My favorite human brain!

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=bdde6508945af6e2a4dd6527f4a3f142&prevstart=0

Pretty much I went to the Google 3D Warehouse page.
Type in the search box 'Human brain' then pressed enter.
The results came back and this model was in the top 8 on that page. After scrolling through the other pages I found this one to be the best.

Class 9 HW

This is in fact 3D. It opens as 3d in Wonderland and can be previewed in 3d on the website.

Just viewing the MMORPG wiki page. This sums up what defines an MMORPG and what takes a look into the more psychological and sociological effects of MMO's. Also what the common goals/features are of an MMORPG
Installing Ventrilo. Went smoothly.

I created my first character in WoW! I Chose a Dranei Mage. Going for the raw DPS!

Roll Call #2 for Class 9!

Creation of My Poster

Here is the final outcome after all of my editing! And it is clickable
This is where I add the click functionality. It's the same method as used in prior classes
Here I am just changing the HTML for the poster. I used the direct source of my picture from FaceBook and then added some CSS to the paragraph below it to make things look better
This is the screen that pops up where can select what kind of object you want to insert into Wonderland. I chose Poster!

Wonderland Poster Video and Poster Instructions

Pretty much these two tutorials are the same. The video one provides a visual tutorial for the user to hear and follow on how to create a 'Poster' in Wonderland. These instructions are step by step and very easy to follow.
The written instructions are just as easy to follow and depending on how quickly the user can read might be faster to follow. Either way the user chooses these are very informative and easy to follow tutorials.

Class 9 Roll Call & Leaderboard

Here are the roll call and updated rankings!

Class 8 Homework

For my final project I chose:
  1. The Bystander Effect in Second Life
  2. Digital Dream Project for PTSD
The Bystander Effect in Second Life is based off of the Bystander Eff
ect. The Bystander Effect occurs when many people witness a crime and no one rep
orts it because each person thinks that another person witnessing the crime will report it.

The model I chose is that of a crime scene. This one closely relates to the Bystander Effect
because it is a crime scene after a crime has been committed.

The Digital Dream Project for PTSD is research that will help veterans with PTSD battle their nightmares that they have from battle. Using 3D goggles, the veteran will go in and face their nightmares with friends. After they conquer the fear they can simply take their goggles off an be right back in their home.

I chose a bed because the veterans are having these nightmares while sleeping of course. They overcome and conquer their fears through technology.

For both of these models I was lucky enough to not have to change any export settings so they are both the default values.

Here I am standing next to the two objects in Wonderland

Part 2 of the homework:

Standing Next to the Models

Here they both are! I had to re-size the Colosseum because it was far too large. So it is now 5% of it's original size.

Successfully Dropped into Wonderland

Hooray no errors!

Model Converted to COLLADA Format

I first converted the Bugatti into the COLLADA format.

Models Opened in SketchUp

Here are both of the models I chose in SketchUp version 8. I noticed that the Bugatti was saved in version 6 of SketchUp but it still opened without any issues in SketchUp 8. SketchUp is backwards compatible.

Drag-and-Drop Sketchup Models = No Go

Well as expected the SketchUp format is not supported by Wonderland. Here is the error

Google 3D Warehouse

I chose a Bugatti car and the Colosseum. Bugatti is known for being the fastest and most expensive street legal car. It can go up to 250mph. Also I think it looks very elegant and sleek. Overall I wouldn't mind the car. I chose the Colosseum because I like how intricate the model actually is. It is very detailed and looks cool as well.

Open 3D/VR standards are emerging

  1. The COLLADA format is being introduced as the new open format. The idea is create it once instead of creating it for every different program, game, or utility that you are trying to use with the 3D/VR objects/models. This format has been put in place over the past 2 years and has aimed at properly representing in each program it is imported into. iED/VR is a subset of the COLLADA format and is able to seamlessly integrate between all of the iED platforms. iED is based closely on the COLLADA format and was developed to the open and royalty-free intellectual property process standards.

Class 7 Homework

This video is an informative video of how video games are divided into two categories.
Here I am downloading the NASA Spacewalk program.
This is the link on the iED forum for the NASA Spacewalk Download
This is the Wiki for simulation. Pretty much it goes through the various types of simulation, a brief history. It is a good base to get some general knowledge on simulations

Different Between Virtual Worlds, Simulators, and Video Games

Virtual Worlds are created by users and have been known for being multi-user, shared experiences. Virtual Worlds allow users to come together and be apart of something like a community. It is what the users make of it. The users create what you construct in the virtual worlds. People create content in the VW's.

Video Games distinguishing factor is that it has goals. Video games always require some type of goal whether it be points, money, status, or even 'kills' or frags. There are specific goals that will allow a player to enhance in the game.

Simulators are usually single user experiences i.e. flight simulator or medical simulator. The end use is in the simulator going through the simulation for one specific reason typically, whether it be instructional or for enjoyment. These simulators can be complex or as simple as walking like with the NASA Spacewalk Simulator.
